soapUI Assertions are nothing but validations which can be added to various test steps in a soapUI test case/ Project.
There are different types of assertions and assertions can vary based on the test steps. The two test steps which has assertions are JDBC Request and Test Request. The assertions for JDBC requests are to validate the values retrieved from the database, where as the assertions for Test Request are to validate the data returned by the web service response. Below are the list of assertions available for Test Request (soapUI Pro Version 4.0.1).
